‘Battle of the Badges’ brings first responders together for lifesaving cause
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – First responders from across Warren County rolled up their sleeves Thursday morning at the Sloan Convention Center — not for an emergency, but for a friendly competition with lifesaving stakes.
The second annual Battle of the Badges is a blood drive that brought agencies like the Bowling Green Fire Department, Police Department and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office together in a contest to see who could bring in the most blood donations.
Hosted by Paul Davis Restoration and the American Red Cross, the event helps ensure local hospitals are stocked with the blood they need to treat trauma victims, cancer patients and others in critical need.
“I think it’s great to see the first responders in a positive light and get to see them doing things that are separate from their normal, everyday job,” said Laura Deglow, business administrator at Paul Davis Restoration. “To see that they support the Red Cross and that it’s an important part of our community really means a lot.”
All donations collected will stay local, directly supporting patients in south central Kentucky.
