Barren County couple charged with national health care fraud
A Barren County physician has been charged in the Western District of Kentucky as a part of a national health care fraud take down.
Doctor Chandra Dundumalla Reddy and his wife, Vinodini Dundumalla Reddy were both charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and one count of conspiracy for making false statements relating to health care matters. Dr. Reddy was also charged with one count of conspiracy for unlawfully allowing his nurse practitioners to use his DEA number to prescribe controlled substances.
The charges stem from the defendants role in a $390,000 billing scheme.
Court records show Dr. Reddy is also accused of pre-signing a large number of controlled substances prescriptions for his nurses to distribute while Dr. Reddy was either out of the country or out of the office.
He and his wife are both being held on a $25,000 unsecured bond.
