92-year-old mother kills her son after disagreement
Some adult sons or daughters suggest their parents go to a senior living center.
During a time when they’re no longer independent.
But in Fountain Hills, Arizona, that suggestion turned deadly.
Now, 72-year-old Thomas Blessing from Arizona is now dead.
That’s after he told his 92-year-old mother Anna Mae Blessing he was putting her in a nursing home.
Blessing then hid 2 pistols in her robe, confronted her son and shot him several times.
The son’s girlfriend was able to knock both weapons from Blessing and later called police.
As she was being taken away, Blessing said, "You took my life, so I’m taking yours."
Blessing now faces one count of 1st degree murder, aggravated assault and kidnapping charges.
She’s being held on a 500 thousand dollar "cash only" bond.
We spoke to Kelly Pulliam, a Home Care Consultant from Home Instead Senior Care in Bowling Green.
Pulliam says there’s one way this could have been avoided.
"Have the conversation with your parents, long before they get to that age where they physically can’t take care of themselves."
She continued to say, "Ask them what their wishes are, whether it’s to stay at home or go to an assisted living facility.
Blessing also told investigators the last time she fired a gun was in the 1970’s.
