Senator Rand Paul was one of the many citizens in Warren County to head to the polls earlier this morning.
Paul, along with his wife Kelley, voted in line at Briarwood Elementary in Bowling Green.
The senator said that as a country Americans should feel proud to have the opportunity to vote, unlike other countries, and that regardless of if you're a Democrat or Republican, he encouraged people to get out to the polls today.
Leading up to this election, though, there's been a lot of physical and verbal abuse towards politicians, something Paul hopes to change after this election cycle.
"I think it's better to tone down the rhetoric a little bit," he says. "I've worked with democrats in Congress... I think there's a lot of things we can do."
Paul also added that he expects republicans to do well across the state of Kentucky today.
