Kentucky Downs applies to build new track

The ownership of Kentucky Downs, has filed an application with the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission to build a new Standardbred track and also expand the existing track in Franklin Kentucky.

In a release, Kentucky Downs says they are committing $45 million dollars, to the project that will be called Oak Grove Meadows, and an additional $25 million dollars to the Franklin expansion. The proposed track would be located near the intersection of interstate 24, and US 41A near Fort Campbell and Clarksville Tennessee. 

It would race 15 days from October 11th to November 10th 2019. Other expansions also include doubling the size of the main housing building, as well as constructing a state of the art Equestrian complex. 

The group will be working with Global Design and architectural firm Populous, also known for their work on world class facilities like Ascot Racecourse and Yankee Stadium.
