Man with two children in car, dies after crash in Metcalfe County

Edmonton, KY -

A man with two children in his car, died over the weekend after a collision near Edmonton.

According to Kentucky State Police, the crash happened at 1:30 Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Cawthorn Cemetery Road and Highway 496.

Troopers say Robert Coates, 71, of Edmonton crossed the center line, striking another vehicle, being driven by Aaron Petranek, 38, also of Edmonton.

Petraneck and his two passengers, Rebecca Petranek, 12, and Emma Petraneck, 10, were all wearing their seat belts, but Aaron was pronounced dead at the scene. The two girls were transported to TJ Samson Community Hospital for minor injuries.

Coates was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
