Rescue teams from Bowling Green and Warren County may respond to areas impacted by Hurricane Florence

Bowling Green, KY -

The Bowling Green Fire Department and Warren County Tactical Rescue Team are on standby tonight to assist other agencies in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.

According to Warren County Emergency Management Director, Ronnie Pearson, the Bowling Green Fire Department's Flood-Swiftwater Search and Rescue Team and Warren County's Tactical Rescue Team have been notified they may be called in to help.

If the teams do go, they would consist of six members each and would use boats to rescue people stranded by flooding.

The Associated Press is reporting that several firefighters from Louisville and Jefferson County are already in North Carolina.

Pearson says the local teams should know more once Florence makes landfall.

"Here's an opportunity where there is going to be the possibility of rescue after rescue after rescue," said Pearson. "If we can share those resources with other states, we want to do that. There are dedicated individuals in the Bowling Green Fire Department and Tactical Rescue Team that want to help."

Pearson says if you'd like to help, donations such as hygiene products should be made to the American Red Cross.
