Six dead after Southern California Shooting

Posted: Updated:
Bakersfield, CA -

Six people are dead including the alleged shooter following a string of shootings in southern California.

There are five crime scenes spread throughout Bakersfield and dozens of witnesses, according to officials.

The first shots were fired at a trucking business around 5:20 Wednesday afternoon.

According to the sheriff, a man and his wife showed up to the business.

That's where he shot his wife and another man.

The shooter then chased a third person out of the business to a sporting goods store, eventually shooting and killing him.

Next, the killer drove to a nearby home where he killed a fourth and fifth person, according to officials.

The suspect then hijacked a car from a woman and child and drove down the highway where he shot himself in the chest.

Officials believe the victims are connected, but the investigation is ongoing.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office is still investigating what may have sparked the initial shooting.
