Kentucky pension arguments to be broadcasted on statewide television

Posted: Updated:
Frankfort, KY -

Arguments before the Kentucky Supreme Court regarding the future of the state's public pension system will be broadcasted live on statewide television.

The Lexington Herald-Leader is reporting that the Supreme Court is partnering with Kentucky Educational Television (KET) to broadcast the arguments that begin on September 10th.

This will be the second time in the court's history that its proceedings will be seen live on television.

You might remember, earlier this year, thousands of teachers from across the state closed schools to protest at the state capitol.

A state judge struck down the law in June, ruling lawmakers used an unconstitutional process to pass the law.

Governor Matt Bevin appealed that ruling, leading to these hearings.

Arguments are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. central time on September 20th.
