New Tyler Perry scam has reached Bowling Green

Posted: Updated:
Bowling Green, KY -

You've probably seen several of his funny movies.

But what's happening to people all over the world and right here in Bowling Green is no laughing matter.

Well-known celebrity Tyler Perry is known for his Madea and family movies.

But he's not in the news for an upcoming film.

Instead, it's for a scam that uses Perry's image and videos to fool you at home.

If the scam has reached you and you think the scam is real, believe me. It's not.

Awareness of the scam has reached national levels and Perry has even uploaded videos himself debunking the scam.

The scam comes in many forms and posts.

In those posts they tell you if you "share" them you will receive up to one million dollars to buy cars or mansions.

Or they ask you to download one of his movies - which you put your credit card info in to do.

That leads to you losing your hard earned money.

We spoke to one local victim of the scam, who wished to not be identified on-camera.

She says she's received the scam for the past month...

The scammer sends her messages and friend requests asking her to download Perry's recent movies.

But even though she loves Tyler Perry, she soon realized there was no way.

If you happen to see any form of Tyler Perry giveaways or posts saying you'll win money, delete them immediately.

No matter how often they send it.

Also, never give your card information no matter how good it seems.
