Kentucky State Parks Offer Discounts for Irma Evacuees

Posted: Updated:

Now through Thursday, Kentucky State Parks are offering discounted lodging for Hurricane Irma victims. If you have a drivers license from the state of Florida, Georgia or South Carolina you can get a 25 percent discount on lodge rooms and cottages at the 17 resort parks across the state of Kentucky. Barren River Lake State Resort Park officials say they are already full for Friday and Saturday, but they will take in whatever evacuees they can on the other days. State park officials say they are happy to help evacuees in this tough time.

"We've had some people either call about it or make reservations, so yes people are finding out about it and coming up this far North. We are happy to do it and hope people are safe," said Gil Lawson the Public Information Officer for Kentucky State Parks.
