Following the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey, Fruit of the Loom is teaming up with the American Red Cross and giving back to those in need.
The company is donating nearly one million pieces of clothing to Houston-area residents, with over half of the items being underwear.
The four semi-trailers full of clothing are departing from the Fruit of the Loom Distribution Centers in Alabama and South Carolina, and are set to reach Houston on Friday.
Kirby Jordan, Vice President of Corporate Communications for the Bowling Green-based branch says after speaking with Red Cross and hearing about the lack of undergarments available for survivors, they knew what they had to do,
"We care about our customers. We care about our folks. We hate to see so many people that have been put out of their homes, that are in such dire need of everything. Many of the organizations were calling and saying they need basic items such as underwear, so it was just the perfect alignment that we could help so many people with such basic items. We really just want to give back and help those people in need."
