Some pigs got loose during an accident in Louisville on Wednesday.
At 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, a truck transporting nearly 150 pigs to the Swift plant in Butchertown overturned on the ramp to I-64 East where I-65 North and South merge. The truck caught fire, making cleanup even more difficult. Traffic was diverted to I-71 North and the merge ramp was shut down for most of the day.
The driver was transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries. About 20 pigs were killed, and many other put down at the scene.
