Train Fire Causes Hart County School Evacuation

Posted: Updated:

An electrical fire on a train causes a Hart County school to be evacuated Wednesday.

Just before 10 a-m, Kentucky State Police received a call of a C-S-X train on fire in Bonnieville off Highway 31 and Campground Road.

Officials say the fire was electrical and was quickly put out by various fire crews from the area.

The train was carrying some type of hazardous material which led to Bonnieville Elementary being evacuated for a short period of time.

Police say no one was in danger and no one was injured.

The evacuation was a precautionary measure since the fire was in the engine car which was dozens of train cars away from the hazardous
material.
