Partial Lunar Eclipse in the Greek Sky

Posted: Updated:

In light of the eclipse we are about to witness here, another celestial phenomenon just happened, except this time it is halfway around the world

Viewers in Greece were able to witness the opposite of what we will here in a few weeks, as crowds gathered Tuesday south of Athens at the temple of Poseidon, to see the moon. However, they also got a special treat as a partial lunar eclipse was also visible in the sky.

As the Earth passes between the sun and the moon, the sunlight was refracted in the earth's atmosphere, giving the moon a striking dull red or copper color.
